Midfielder says Blues can be pleased with early performances in League 1.
Southend United midfielder Will Atkinson says Blues are relishing the challenge at the weekend when Swindon Town visit Roots Hall.
The Blues picked up a decent point at Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday, and Atkinson admits the players are desperate to get the first win on the board as soon as possible.
“Everyone's looking to get that win on the board but it'll be a tough game,” the midfielder says.
“We need to be right at it. Teams that open up and play we like to think we can have a little bit of joy against them. We're all looking forward to it.
“We'll have a bright final training session and we'll go in all guns blazing against Swindon.”
Blues are yet to get a win in the league so far, with two draws and a defeat against Walsall last week, but Atkinson sees reasons to be cheerful from the early performances from the players.
“Away from home, a point at Doncaster isn't a bad result. We played well, created chances and probably could have nicked the points towards the end.
“It was important to get last week's result against Walsall out of our system.
“I was pleased to be in the team against Fleetwood – another decent point which we picked up – and Doncaster.
“It's a little bit mixed so far. Walsall was a big disappointed but we've earned two good points on the road, which wasn't too bad.”
