Boss urges supporters to stick with Blues against the Robins on Saturday.
Southend United manager Phil Brown is expecting another tricky League 1 test when Swindon Town visit Roots Hall on Saturday for our second home league game of the season.
Mark Cooper's Robins reached the play-off Final at the end of last season, and Brown is expecting an exciting game against the Wiltshire outfit.
“The Adam Barretts, the Michael Timlins and John Whites in the team need to use all their experience on Saturday,” Brown began
“When I looked at the statistics I think Swindon have six players in the top 20 best passers in the division which is phenomenal and what Mark's side are all about.
“We have to be patient and so do the crowd as well because it could be one of those days when the possession stats could be something like 65%:35% in their favour.
“But it's about the result and at the end of the game, if the result is in Southend United's favour then that gets our season up and running and I'll be a very happy man.”
And Brown is still hopeful that business can be done regarding a defender ahead of Saturday's game against the Robins.
But the boss says Luke Prosser will play against Cooper's side.
“I've put three calls in to managers with regards to a replacement for Cian Bolger. We're down to the last four defenders and Ryan Leonard and David Worrall could be used as stop gaps as well.
“But we need competition for places and Luke Prosser will step into the breach on Saturday. Luke wants the shirt – he said that to me at the start of the season – and now he has his opportunity.”
