Boss satisfied with 1-1 draw at Fleetwood after being disappointed at half time.
Southend United manager Phil Brown was delighted with the impact of the substitutes after his side clawed back from 1-0 down to earn a valuable point at Fleetwood Town, with the final score being 1-1.
David Worrall came on as a second half substitute for the Blues and got an equaliser with just five minuted of the game remaining.
“All three of the new boys did well, as did Joe Pigott who only met the boys again on the train this morning,” Brown said.
“It was a nice day out in Fleetwood for him.
“I was pleased with the impact all the substitutes made, especially Wozza with the goal he scored with five minutes left.
“We were disappointed to go in at half time 1-0 down. It was a great strike but you get punished by the sides in League 1.
“Fleetwood could have killed us off just after half time with a couple of chances, including one that hit the bar.”
And Brown was delighted to 'get the first point on the board' at Fleetwood, who finished in tenth place last season.
Blues were arguably the better side in the first half but went 1-0 down mid-way through the first 45 after Declan McManus' long range strike.
“It's good to get the first point on the board in League 1.
“The fitness coaches here are excellent and they've done an excellent job. We have 19 players available for the first game and if we keep that going then I'll have some selection headaches, for sure.”
