Glen Rea: I'm here to play a big part, not to simply gain experience

28 August 2015

20-year-old wants to show what he can do with Southend United for the next six months.

New Southend United signing Glen Rea says he's joined Blues to make an impact, and not to simply gain experience.

The centre back signed on a six-month loan deal earlier today and admitted he 'can't wait to get going' with the Club.

And the move comes just a couple of weeks after Rea made his debut for Brighton – against Blues at Roots Hall.

“I'm really happy to be here and I'm grateful for the opportunity,” Glen began.

“I really can't wait to get going and hopefully play a part on Monday night at Coventry.

“The other week I thought Southend played well against Brighton and hopefully I can bring a bit to the squad here. Southend did well on the night against Brighton and that played a part in me coming here.

“It's a good club and I want to come and add something. I'm not just here to get a bit of experience – I want to play a big part.

“It's great to be here for six months and have that stability. Also, working under Phil Brown will be a big plus as he is very experience. “

So what can Blues fans expect from the 20-year-old for the next six months?

“I'm good on the ball, love defending and if the goals come with me scoring at the other end then that will be great as well!” concluded Rea.

The full interview with Glen will be on Blues Player HD shortly.
