Defender thrilled to remain in 'a team like no other'.
Southend United defender Adam Thompson could hide his delight after finally signing a deal with the Blues.
Thompson has agreed an initial one-year contract with the club, with the option of a second campaign at Roots Hall.
“I'm absolutely buzzing,” the 22-year-old said.
“It's taken a long time with my shoulder, and hopefully I'll be back out there soon! I'm only a couple of weeks away, so I'm pleased to get the deal done.
“I always wanted to stay whether we went up or stayed down, to be honest. I love the club and the team here is like no other. The team spirit here is unbelievable.
“The recovery has gone better than I think me or the physio anticipated. It's gone well, I've worked hard over the summer and the physio Ben Clarkson has helped me so much.
“I feel like I'm ready to come back in, I feel fit but I'll need to be at it with the strong squad we have here.”
And Thompson is hopeful of another memorable campaign with Southend after promotion from League 2 last term.
“The performances have been there early on, and we're not far off. It'll hopefully be an exciting season, but it's a harsh league, as we've seen against Swindon – where we played so well.”
The video interview with Adam will be on Blues Player HD shortly.
