News: Exiles Day against Tranmere Rovers

11 April 2015

We want to see Blues from far and wide at the game against Micky Adams' men at Roots Hall.

The upcoming home game against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday 11th April has been designated as our ‘Exiles Day’.

The day will be a fantastic opportunity to pay tribute to those loyal Blues supporters that come from far and wide to back Phil Brown and the boys, and there will be a presentation prior to kick-off against Tranmere.

The SUFC Exiles were founded over ten years ago and represent the views and needs of all Southend United fans from outside the SS postcode, with the additional challenges that presents.

Some Exiles never, or very rarely, attend games because of their geography. Some only see the team when Southend are playing in their part of the country, whilst others travel regularly to Roots Hall.  The Exiles are proud sponsors of Cian Bolger for the 2014/15 season.

Organiser of the event John Walton said: “We will be joined by Southend fans from across the country, some of whom regularly travel hundreds of miles to be at Roots Hall for every game.  For others, however, this will be a first game of the season, or indeed for many years.
“Having lived in Southend and supported the Club from a young age, it can be difficult to move away from your hometown Club.  But, of course, many do, for work or university.  Some return, but many do not.
“The SUFC Exiles are here for Southend United fans that live outside of the SS postcode area, providing support and camaraderie, as well as championing the needs of long distance supporters with the Club.
“There are Exiles all over the globe, and some will be flying in from Europe and the United States especially for the game.

“If you’re based in Southend or South East Essex, come along to acknowledge the dedication of the Exiles, and together let’s help the team to move one step closer to promotion.”
Being part of the SUFC Exiles gives those who support the club but live far away the opportunity to liaise with similar people who share a passion for the club.

Via Facebook, Twitter and an email group for paid up members, they communicate with like-minded Exiles, following every game and morsel of information about the club and its progress.
Will you be attending the game as a Southend United Exile? If so, email to get involved with Exiles Day.

To mark the day we will be giving away an SUFC Exiles branded key ring to the first 250 Exiles to sign up, courtesy of Outstanding Branding.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Roots Hall!
