Match Preview: Exeter City vs. Southend United

17 April 2015

A look ahead to the big game against the Grecians at St James Park.

The Lowdown...

It's been a bit of a surprise season for Exeter City so far, with the Grecians situated just outside the play-off places.

Paul Tisdale's side will know that the three points is a must for them on Saturday if they are to stand any real chance of making the top seven this season.

The Devon side have toppled the likes of Bury, Wycombe Wanderers, Shrewsbury Town, Luton Town and Newport County this season.

The Officials...

Referee: Darren Handley
Assistant Referees: Dumitru-Ravel Cheosiaua & Mark Derrien

November 2013: Exeter City 0-2 Southend United
January 2013: Exeter City 3-0 Southend United
September 2012: Southend United 2-1 Exeter City

The Overall Record...

Southend United wins: 44

They said what?!...

Phil Brown: “Exeter still have an outside chance of getting in the play-offs. We'll need the three points. The burst their bubble on Tuesday by conceding a 102nd minute winner on Tuesday, so they'll be deflated.”

Paul Tisdale: “We know that Southend are competing for something of their own – they’re after an automatic promotion spot and they have to win also.  This is a very important game for us – we made life difficult by coming away from Adams Park with nothing on Tuesday.  But this game is absolutely vital – there’s no way to skirt around it.  We need three points and it is a must-win game.”
