Southend United are pleased to announce the loan signing of Jerome Binnom-Williams from Premier League side Crystal Palace.
The England youth international joins Phil Brown’s side on a one-month youth loan, following the news that Ben Coker has been ruled out for the next few months.Binnom-Williams progressed through the Eagles’ academy and made his professional debut for Crystal Palace in a 2-1 League Cup defeat to Bristol City in 2013.
He joined non-league side Forest Green Rovers on a one-month loan deal last srason and made four appearances for the club during his time with them.
Binnom-Williams was handed the squad number 21 at Palace for this season, and played in their 3-0 win against Walsall in the Capital One Cup second round back in August.
The 19-year-old also scored the winning goal for Palace’s under-21 side in a recent 1-0 victory against Sheffield United.
Speaking about the arrival, Brown said: “Jerome was a player we had on our radar and was given a squad number by Tony Pulis at Palace for this season.
“Tony took him away on tour with him this pre-season and spoke very highly of him. He hasn’t got any Football League experience, but the feedback from Forest Green Rovers was also good.
“He’s a big lad with a lot of pace. He trained well on Thursday and will be right in contention for Saturday’s game.”
