Southend United assistant manager Dave Penney is confident Phil Brown’s side can get back to winning ways.
Following excellent victories against Portsmouth, Cheltenham Town, York City and Shrewsbury Town, Blues suffered an agonising defeat to Morecambe on Saturday.
However, Penny is aiming to get back on the winning trail when Southend make the trip to Luton Town on Saturday.
“Luton are a good side, there’s no doubt about that,” Penney said.
“John Still is a wily old fox, he knows what he’s doing and has a good squad. He’s made a habit of bringing in talented players over the years.
“We were all disappointed about the Morecambe result and want to put it right. We had more than enough chances to get at least a points against Morecambe.”
And Penney wants another good run to keep the momentum going for Blues after a good run in September.
“Luton’s a proper football club. We expect them to be up there at the end of the season and we’ll be aiming to beat them.
“It’s all about momentum – they have some from their promotion from the Conference and we have some following a period of good form.
“We want the momentum to continue going into an important stage of the season.”
