Southend United defender Luke Prosser is looking forward to the 'challenge' that will be posed by Luton Town
Blues travel to Bedfordshire on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways following defeat against Morecambe last Saturday.
However, prior to the match, Jack Payne and Phil Brown will learn their fate following their nomination for the Sky Bet League Two monthly awards, and Prosser says he is delighted for the duo following their nominations for Player of the Month and Manager of the Month in the division.
The 26-year-old Prosser, who has been a Blue since 2010, feels both nominations are deserved.
“Everyone’s buzzing for Payney – he’s such a young lad, is really energetic and has scored good goals,” Prosser said.
“The Gaffer’s had a good month as well with four wins and if he gets the award he will have deserved it.
“We’ve had a good spell lately and fair play to both Payney and the boss for being a part of it.
“We had a very good run, which unfortunately ended against Morecambe. We deserved more from the game but we need to start again and go on another little run.”
And on Blues’ trip to Luton on Saturday, Prosser feels it will be a tough test against a side who he expects to be up in and around the play-off places come the end of the season.
“Everyone’s looking forward to the Luton game and Saturday’s a massive game. We’re looking to bounce back from the Morecambe defeat – a game we should have won with the chances we created.
“In John Still they have a very good manager who is really experienced at this level. There will be a big crowd and a good atmosphere and they’re the game you want to play in.
“We’re all looking forward to the challenge and looking forward to hopefully a good game against a side that – like ourselves – are aiming to be up there come the end of the season.”
