Midfielder aiming to stay in the Blues lineup after returning to the XI against Hartlepool United.
Southend United midfielder Kevan Hurst is delighted to be back in the Blues starting line-up and is aiming to keep the shirt when Phil Brown’s men trek to Merseyside to take on Tranmere Rovers.
Blues will be aiming to make it three consecutive Sky Bet League Two victories at Prenton Park following great wins against Mansfield Town and Hartlepool United in their last two league games.
“After the defeat to Chester it was important we bounced back, and that’s what we did,” Hurst reflected.
“It was an important win for us and vital that we responded.
“Things are going well. We’re in the top seven and that’s what we’re looking at, at this moment in time, with aspirations for the top three."
And Hurst admits the mentality must be correct going into the game at Prenton Park, with Tranmere currently finding themselves in the League Two relegation zone.
“They’re not doing too well at the moment and the points are there to be claimed. It’s important to go into the game with the right mentality.
“There’s competition for places in the side and the Gaffer has a number of options. I’m creating chances, and although I haven’t got the stats from last year, I feel I’ve not done too bad.
“I’m just focusing on my game and playing well, and helping the team to get out of this league. That’s what we want.
“We have that clean sheet mentality again. We’re creating plenty of chances and once we take them, we’ll score plenty of goals. I’m feeling something positive in the team and from myself and I’m happy with it that way.”
