Sokolik says it's good to be back in Blue!
Southend United loanee Jakub Sokolik admits it's good to be back in Blue having returned from Yeovil Town on a temporary deal at the end of last week.
Sokolik was put straight in the team for the trip to Mansfield Town a day later and helped Blues to their first win in five games.
The defender was pleased with the performance of the team and says it didn't take him long to make the move back to Roots Hall again.
“It' was a quick decision to make for me, as soon as I heard of the interest,” the Czech centre back reflected.
“It was a really good feeling to playing again, and it was an ever better feeling to win the game against Mansfield, who are a good team.
“Teams go on bad runs during seasons. It happens in football and it is surprising because there are a real good group of players in the squad here. Hopefully, after the last win, we can go on a good run now.”
Sokolik will be back on duty at the heart of the Blues' defence again on Saturday when Chester take on Southend in the first round of the FA Cup – a competition that Sokolik admits is a big thing worldwide.
“I know all about the FA Cup. It's talked about back home in the Czech Republic and it's a big competition. Every team that is in it wants to do well, and that's the same for Chester on Saturday.
“When you play against a lower league side, you have to prepare against them as you would if it was a league game or another competitive game. You can't take any team lightly as upsets do happen.”
And although he picked up a slight injury against West Ham United in a behind closed doors game this week, Sokolik feels fine to continue in the Blues lineup for the cup match.
“I took a knock against West Ham but I'm okay, it's not too serious and I should be fine for Saturday. It was against Andy Carroll – I got the ball off him, he tried to win it back but got my knee!”
