John White picks his winners...
WORST HAIRCUT – Luke Chambers
JW: It has to be Luke Chambers. The lads had some fun shaving his head in Madrid during our pre-season tour, but that made him look quite ill. His hair has never really recovered from that.
BEST GOAL – John Egan
JW: There’s an obvious winner to that one. John Egan’s goal against Scunthorpe United. It was a very important goal that came at a pivotal time, and what a strike.
FUNNIEST PLAYER – Cauley Woodrow
JW: There are a few funny lads, but I would say that Cauley Woodrow stands out. Although he wasn’t intentionally funny, he had the boys in stitches many a time. He always left his phone and wallet lying around.
RESULT OF THE SEASON – Portsmouth Away
JW: There are some good ones to choose from, but I would go with Portsmouth away as we had gone behind so early on in the game, and then had a man sent off. We went on to win the game and it was an amazing feeling.
PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON – Millwall Home
JW: There have been a number of good performances, but the Millwall game probably tops the list. It was an all round good performance with some drama thrown in as the floodlights went out for a spell and the rain was hammering down.
CLEAN SHEET OF THE SEASON – All of them
It’s hard to pick one, as there’s been so many!!
MOMENT OF THE SEASON – Oxford Away
For me, it was when we got the result away at Oxford United. I feel that it was a turning point in our season, employing a new system that has served us so well since.
MOST ANNOYING – Marc Laird
JW: This is an easy one. Lairdy finds it hilarious to prank call me every two minutes on away trips while I’m trying to watch videos on my phone so it interrupts them.
BEST COUPLE – Ted Smith and Terry Mason
JW: The goalkeeper’s union are pretty close here, but Tel and his favourite ‘keeper Ted Smith stand out.
WORST ON FIFA – Marc Laird
JW: I don’t play it too much to be honest, but from what I’ve seen, Marc Laird is probably the worst. Julian Bennett is probably the best.
BEST CAPTAIN – Barry Corr
JW: A couple have taken the armband when I’ve been out injured, and Barry Corr did a good job. His arms are so big I needed a new armband the week after!
FUNNIEST MOMENT – Terry Mason’s Liverpool bet
JW: Terry Mason gave the manager really big odds at the start of the season on Liverpool winning the league. It almost proved very costly!
WORST DRESS SENSE – Ryan Leonard
JW: This is a tough one, but fresh in my mind is Ryan Leonard wearing Slazenger socks to the PFA Awards night.
WORST TRAINER – Luke Chambers
JW: Everyone trains really hard to be fair, but Luke likes to have a moan when we do any type of shooting practice. He should love bringing out the W’s.
MOST BORING – John White
JW: I’m going to have to say myself here, as I’m sure that’s who the lads would go for. I need to win one award this season!
