Midfielder can't wait for the play-offs to get started, and he's already getting goose bumps.
Kevan Hurst admitted he is getting goose bumps just thinking about being a part of the play-offs with Southend United.
The midfielder has been in fine form for Blues this season, and finished third in the Supporters’ Player of the Year, awarded on Saturday.
He’s now determined to help fire Southend United to promotion, and says he’s buzzing about the upcoming matches against Burton Albion, for the right to play at Wembley.
He said: “When we confirmed our play-off place, there were goose bumps, knowing we’ll be involved in them at the end of the season.
“I’m buzzing and I just can’t wait for the games to get started. It’s a pressure, but like the manager says, it’s a pressure we want to have.
“We’ve handled it before and I’m sure we’ll strive under it. It’s a great feeling to know we’ll be playing in them.
“It has been a good season so far, but this is our opportunity to make it the season we all wanted it to be, and that’s by winning promotion.
“I’ve been very happy with my form this season. It has been a real team effort to get us into this position and we’re all working extremely hard.
“I was delighted to finish third in the Supporters’ Player award. It means a lot and makes the hard work worthwhile.”
Hurst set up the winner for Barry Corr in Saturday’s win against Burton Albion, and said afterwards ‘that’s the type of guy I am’, having seen the striker go above him in the goalscoring charts.
But he fired a warning shot back ahead of the play-off matches.
He added: “I enjoy getting goals and assists and I was delighted to get my 16th assist of the season to set Barry up for the winner.
“I’m delighted for him that he’s the top scorer, and I know that goal took him past me, but that’s just the type of guy I am.
“My target at the start of the season for goals has been reached, but I’m not at my target yet for assists this season.
“We’ve got two, hopefully three, more games, so it’d be nice if I could reach that target.
“My goals record I’m very happy with, and I’ve told Barry there’s still a few more games for me to bang a couple more in!”
