Phil Brown on Blues' win against Burton Albion to end the regular season
Phil Brown was delighted to end the regular season with three points, to set Blues up nicely for the League 2 play-offs.
The win meant it’ll be Burton Albion again in the play-offs, with the first-leg at the Pirelli Stadium next weekend.
Brown said: “I’m delighted because that is six wins, one defeat and one draw in the last eight games. We’re top of the league in terms of form coming into the play-offs.
“With that kind of form we can be very confident going into the play-offs and hopefully it will lead to Wembley and League 1.
“I’m very pleased with the 20th clean sheet and it’s great to have Dan Bentley reaching the target that he has set himself.
“It’s all about the players, and another 1-0 win is very good. We’ve picked up 21 points from 1-0 wins, and that’s excellent from everyone.
“We’ve beaten Burton twice now, but the play-offs will be very different. Hopefully we can get over the winning line.”
On Saturday’s performance, Brown was pleased with the win, and happy to have fielded a full-strength side despite Burton making changes.
He said: “I never wanted to make changes because I wanted to take the form we’ve got into the play-offs.
“Gary decided to and that’s up to him, but we’re pleased with the win and to have lifted ourselves into 5th place.
“You can’t take too much, but the players have the right mentality and performance at the moment so we didn’t want to make changes.
“It was nice to end the regular season with a win. We can’t wait for the play-offs now.”
