Programme: Kevan Hurst feature

14 March 2014

Big Interview in Saturday's programme is with midfielder Kevan Hurst

In Saturday’s matchday programme, we’ve got an exclusive interview with Kevan Hurst after he signed a new two-year contract two weeks ago.

The midfielder discusses why he signed the deal, how settled he is in the area, and why he believes there’s only one way Southend United is going – and that’s forward.

Here’s a short preview of the interview with Kevan Hurst:

“I’ve got to show I was deserving of the new contract now,” he said, speaking exclusively to the club’s official matchday programme. “I truly believe this club is going places, and I wanted to be a big part of that.

“Last year I got a good number of assists, and I’ve added goals to my game this time around which I’ve been pleased with. But it’s all about the team, and while it’s nice to do well individually, I just want to help this club get into League 1.

“I truly believe this squad is capable of getting promotion, and then of doing well in League 1. It’s been a tough few weeks but it’s all about working hard and staying together as a group and that’s exactly what we’ve done.

“Leaving the club never really came into my mind. The fans have been absolutely fantastic since I joined and I’ve really been welcomed by them which has helped.”

There’s also a look back at our famous promotion-winning win at Bury back in 1991, as well as a look back at a previous programme from a game with Bury.

There’s the latest from the youth department, including an interview thanks to Rob Craven with winger Brandon Scott.
