27 March 2014

Defender heads out on loan to Aldershot Town for the remainder of the season

Southend United Football Club can confirm that defender Mark Phillips has joined Aldershot Town on loan until the end of the season.

Phillips, who has been with the club since 2010 when he joined from Brentford, will link up with former Blues Chris Barker and Glenn Morris with the Shots, who play in the Conference Premier.

The 31-year-old has made 114 appearances for Blues in all competitions, with 32 of those coming this term.

He scored twice in the defeat to Exeter City earlier this campaign, but hasn’t played since the 2-2 draw with Scunthorpe United.

Phil Brown said: “Mark has been given the chance at Aldershot to get some games under his belt and we felt it was right to allow him this opportunity.”

Everyone at the football club would like to wish Mark the very best during his loan spell with the Shots.
