Second Canaries youngster joins as Jacob Murphy comes in on loan until the end of the season
Southend United are delighted to announce the arrival of England under-19 international Jacob Murphy on loan from Premier League side Norwich.
Murphy follows on from striker Jamar Loza who joined from the Canaries a week ago and made a big impression in the Monday night win against Oxford United.
19-year-old Murphy has signed on loan for Blues until the end of the season, with an option to extend should be reach the play-offs.
The winger helped Norwich City win the 2012-13 FA Youth Cup and scored in the final against Chelsea.
He made his professional debut as a substitute in an FA Cup match against Fulham on January 4th, before joining League 1 side Swindon Town on loan three days later.
He made seven appearances for Swindon, but has since returned to the Canaries.
Manager Phil Brown said: “I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring in Jacob. He is highly rated by Norwich City and has got that pace we can utilise between now and the end of the season.
“After seeing the impression Jamar made on Monday night, we’re hopeful Jacob can do exactly the same. It will help both of the players being here together, having played with each other for so long.
“We’ve got seven games left this season, and I’m confident Jacob will make a big impression between now and the end of the season.”
Murphy will wear the number 15 shirt.
