Jacob Murphy eyeing success with Southend United after joining the club on loan
Jacob Murphy hopes to excite Southend United's supporters during his loan spell with the club.
Murphy made his debut against Torquay United on Saturday, and has targeted success with the club, alongside Jamar Loza, also on loan from Norwich City.
Having spent a number of years working with Jamar, Jacob believes they can form an impressive partnership at Roots Hall to help the club into the play-offs.
He said: “Jamar had an amazing debut and made a big impression in his very first game.
“I watched that game and I was very impressed so when I got the call on Wednesday, I was more than happy to come on loan.
“Knowing Jamar obviously really helped the move and the settling in process last week as he showed me round.
“We’ve known each other for a long time and have played a lot of games together, so hopefully we can continue that here.
“We both want to help get the club into the play-off positions, and hopefully promoted to League 1.
"I think our pace means we can get at defences and hopefully excite the Southend supporters.”
Murphy had a seven game loan spell with Swindon earlier this season after making his Norwich City debut in the FA Cup back in January.
His twin brother Josh is just that bit closer to the first-team, and Jacob hopes this loan spell will help move him closer to Norwich’s first-team squad.
He added: “Making my debut was brilliant, and a really good experience for me, just as the Swindon Town loan was.
“It was a real learning curve with them, and I got seven games under my belt which was good for me.
“Josh is doing really well and on the verge of the first-team, hopefully the experience I get with Southend will help move me closer.
“I just want to play as many games as possible between now and the end of the season and hopefully help this club get promoted.”
