John Egan plays for Ireland under-21's in defeat to Montenegro
On loan defender John Egan represented Republic of Ireland’s under-21 side on Wednesday night.
The defender played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 defeat against Montenegro.
The European Championship qualifier took place at the Tallaght Stadium.
Egan made his Southend United debut against Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, having joined on loan from Sunderland last Thursday.
Assistant boss Dave Penney was pleased to confirm John has returned to training on Thursday without any knocks.
He said: “John was back in at the training ground today and in good spirits, with no knocks or injuries which is great news.
“Adam Thompson went away earlier this season and came back with an injury that kept him out for nearly a month, so there’s always a worry.
“John will be doing some rehab work today and will probably join back in full training on Friday.”
