Phil Brown delighted to mark his year in charge of Southend United with a win
Phil Brown said the win against Oxford United on Monday night was a great way to cap his first year in charge of the club.
Brown has been in charge a year today after taking over from Paul Sturrock, and will be hoping the win can lead to a positive run between now and the end of the season.
After a tough few weeks, Brown was delighted to get back to winning ways and cap his year at Roots Hall with a win.
He said: “It’s a great way to cap a year in charge, a year in charge for any manager is a milestone nowadays and it’d be great to get two, three, four.
“But the bottom line is it’s all about success, and if we can finish the season strongly then I’m sure it can become two, three and four.
“It has been a difficult couple of weeks, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of being back in the job and working at Southend United.
“We’ve got a group of lads here who are all very honest, they work hard, and they got the rewards on Monday night with the win.
“Hopefully that has put us back on track and we can have a strong finish to the season. Who knows where we’ll end up then.”
