Phil Brown's view of Southend United's draw with Scunthorpe United
Phil Brown praised the character and belief of his Southend United side after they came back from 2-0 down to earn a point at Scunthorpe.
John Egan and John White scored in the second-half to earn Blues a point at Glanford Park.
And Brown was thrilled with his side’s second-half display.
He said: “It was real character and belief that they showed to get back into the game, but also plenty of quality.
“It was a fantastic game of football, real end to end stuff. They dominated the first and we did the same in the second.
“With the form the way it has been it says a lot about the team and their belief.
“They did exactly what we asked and that was to turn their defence. It certainly paid off.
“All the substitues made an impact, none more so than Freddy Eastwood when he came on.
“It has given me a lift. It’s given the coaching staff a lift and it’s given the players a big lift.
“It’s a fantastic result for us, having come back from 2-0 down.”
Brown looked back at a real moment of quality for the turning point in the game.
“John Egan’s goal was absolutely superb. It sat up brilliantly and no goalkeeper was going to save that,” Brown added.
“I didn’t bring him to the club to score goals, but my word it was an absolutely brilliant strike.
“That gave everyone the confidence and we continued to play well and deserved the second goal.
“I’m delighted for John White too, he’s gone close a few times, but that bit of luck was on our side tonight.
“We can take a lot from this performance into the Bury game.”
