Pre-season: Premier League QPR to visit Roots Hall

6 June 2014

Harry Redknapp's side to visit Roots Hall again this pre-season

Southend United will take on Premier League side Queens Park Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Roots Hall on Wednesday 30th July, kick-off 7:45pm.

Blues face Ipswich Town on Tuesday 29th July, kick-off 7:45pm, and Harry Redknapp’s side will visit 24 hours later as they gear up for their Premier League campaign.

The R’s won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs last season.

Redknapp’s side visited Roots Hall in pre-season ahead of the previous campaign, coming away with a 3-1 win against Blues.

Phil Brown said: “I’m delighted we will be able to welcome Harry and his side back to Roots Hall this pre-season once again.

“It was a really good test for us as we geared up for the campaign last time around, and I know from speaking to Harry, he felt the same.

“It means we’ll have two tough games in the space of 24 hours at Roots Hall, and it should be the ideal preparation for the new season.

“Both games will feature our first-team squad, giving them a good run out before the start of the campaign.”
