Two new dates added for Community Football and Education Programme...
Two new dates have been added for Southend United’s Community Football and Education Programme, in association with Creative Sport and Leisure (CSL).
Trial dates were held across four venues during May, but two new dates have been added with more places available for young people in the local community looking to develop their football and educational skills.
The programme is the first of its kind in the country, bringing together young people who can continue developing as footballers with the security of gaining an industry recognised qualification from Level 1 to Level 3.
The two new dates for trials will be:
Wednesday 9th July and Thursday 14th July at Canvey Skills Campus, Meppel Avenue, Canvey Island, Essex, SS8 9RZ.
Courses will be delivered at five different venues across South Essex, including at Roots Hall Stadium, the home of Southend United’s Community & Educational Trust and at Prospects College in Southend.
Students will study their courses and also train and play football for seven hours a week. The Football Programme will see the teams competing in the Football Conference Youth Alliance, English Colleges Football Association and the FA Youth Cup. They will also receive a host of other benefits:
• Award in the Treatment and Management of Injury in Sport
• FA Qualifications
• Discount Driving Lessons
• Tickets to Southend United fixtures
• Branded training kit and tracksuit
• Relevant college uniform and equipment
• NUS Card
• Reduced gym membership
• Sports Nutrition Workshops

• Take part in National Citizen Service (NCS)
The Southend United Community Football and Education Programme will be delivered by UEFA and industry qualified coaches and have direct links with Canvey Island Football Club and Southend Manor Football Club, with games being played at both of these club’s grounds. There will also be pathways for students to progress into both of these clubs.
