Blues' boss pleased with how plans for pre-season are taking shape...
Phil Brown is pleased with how his pre-season plans are shaping up ahead of the 2014-15 campaign.
Blues’ players will return to training at the end of the month ahead of the new season, and five first-team friendlies have already been confirmed.
Brown’s side will face Great Wakering Rovers, Billericay and Braintree Town away from home, as well as Ipswich Town and QPR at Roots Hall.
Blues’ boss is pleased with the games in place so far. He said: “We had good tests against Great Wakering and Braintree last season before we got underway.
“I was a bit sceptical last season because of all the upheaval we had before we got underway, but we had a fantastic pre-season and started really well.
“We would love that to be the case again this season. The pre-season friendlies are very important and I’m happy with the ones we’ve got sorted so far.
“Just like last season, we’re building up to the bigger games against the likes of Ipswich Town and QPR, who should give us a real test at Roots Hall.”
Brown also confirmed his hopes for a pre-season tour, which are yet to be finalised, to ensure his players get into shape as quickly as possible.
He added: “We’re looking to try and fit a pre-season tour in, and I’m hopeful we can get away to give the lads a change of environment, just as we did last season.
“Nothing has been confirmed yet, but hopefully we can get things sorted in the next couple of weeks, so we know our plans for when we all return at the end of the month.”
