Preview: Southend United to face Billericay Town

Blues to face Billericay Town on Tuesday night...

Southend United take on Billericay Town in their second pre-season friendly of the 2014-15 campaign this evening.

Blues’ campaign began with a 5-0 win against Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday, as Phil Brown gave everyone 45 minutes of action at Burroughs Park.

The manager has said he will now hand the opening XI an hour of football, with the second XI getting the final 30 minutes – which will then be reversed for the behind-closed-doors friendly with Spurs on Wednesday.

Skipper John White was happy with the opening game of pre-season, and is hoping to kick-on again this evening at Billericay Town.

He said: “It was good to get 45 minutes under our belts against Great Wakering and the lads all looked in good shape. We played some good football and want to keep that going throughout pre-season.

“Just like last season we know there is going to be a bit of a step up game-by-game, and I’m sure by the end of this week we’ll be ready for 90 minutes of action.”

Billericay Town play in the Isthmian League Premier Division, and finished 10th last season.

The game kicks off at 7:45pm at New Lodge, with tickets priced at £6 for adults, £4 for concessions and £1 for children.
