Skipper's first post from Blues' trip to Spain
It’s been a long but very enjoyable first day of our pre-season trip, following a very early start this morning.
We left Southend just after 3am this morning and arrived at the hotel just before midday. After an afternoon siesta, we were out on the training pitch for our first session at about 6pm.
It was tough, having travelled this morning and not had much sleep, but once we had shaken the cobwebs, it was a very good session with all the lads giving 100 per cent effort.
The session was important in my opinion because come tomorrow we’ll be ready to go with the triple sessions, having enjoyed Saturday off and spent much of Sunday travelling.
I’m sure this trip will put us in great shape for the Great Wakering Rovers game on Saturday, if the first session, and the first week, is anything to go by.
We’ll all be getting an early night tonight ready for tomorrow. I’ll be rooming with Lee Barnard during the trip.
Ever since he came back to the club he’s been my roommate, having known him from when I was on loan at the club before. I’d like to think it helped him settle in easier.
After dinner this evening we had Ellis Brown and Myles Weston sing their initiation songs, and I have to say both did brilliantly.
If it was X Factor, I’d probably put Ellis through to the next round, because he gave it that little bit more soul!
I’ll post by next update tomorrow,
