Michael Timlin on the task awaiting against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night
Michael Timlin says Blues must take the positives from Saturday’s defeat to Hull City into Tuesday night’s game away at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Blues’ main aim at the start of this campaign was to seal promotion back to League 1, and Timlin believes Blues have an important week ahead.
Having lost twice to the Daggers already this season, Timlin is determined to help Blues get one over on their local rivals, in a game the midfielder says ‘means a lot to supporters’.
Timlin said: “We know Dagenham & Redbridge are going to give us a very good game. We might be going in to it as favourites but they’ve already shown us this season they are a good side.
“We are expecting a very difficult game and we will have to approach it with the right mentality and attitude if we’re going to come away with an important win.
“There were some real positives on Saturday despite the defeat and we’ve got to take them into this week. We matched Hull for long periods but we didn’t take our chances, we need to do that on Tuesday.
“We did really well against them at their place last season and put in a really good performance. This game means a lot to the fans, it’s a big game and they are a local rival.
“The lads that aren’t from down south are aware of the fact there is that rivalry and having lost to them twice so far this season we want to come out on top this time around.”
The midfielder expects both sides to be full of confidence, despite neither winning at the weekend.
“Our performance against Hull was a good one despite losing the game, and I we’ve been in very good form in recent months,” he added.
“Dagenham didn’t win, but having been 3-0 down to get a draw from the game, they will be very happy and have momentum from that.
“I think it’s very important that we start well, give the away fans something to shout about and try to kick on from there.”
