Defender Adam Thompson hopes he will be involved when Premier League Hull City visit Roots Hall
Adam Thompson hopes he has done enough to be involved against Premier League side Hull City in the FA Cup fourth round.
Thompson came on for the injured Luke O’Neill against Chesterfield and impressing again after doing well at centre back in the win against Millwall in the third round.
The defender says he’d love to be involved from the start when the Tigers roll into Roots Hall on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “It is a game that everyone wants to play in because we’re coming up against a Premier League side.
“Of course, you never like to see a fellow pro get injured and Luke did really well at right-back on Saturday before he had to come off.
“I thought I did quite well when I came on and was pleased to get an assists. I’ve played there a few times so it’s not something new.
“Hopefully I did enough to keep my place in the team whether it’s at right-back or centre-back because I’m really looking forward to it.”
Thompson was excellent in Blues’ win against Millwall in the last-round of the competition, but knows the game against Hull City will be another step up.
With so much confidence and belief in the side, the defender believes however that Blues have a good chance of upsetting the odds.
“It was great to be a part of the win against Millwall and it was a really good team performance.
“They were having a difficult time of things at the time and we took full advantage of that by winning the game comfortably.
“But we know Hull are going to be even tougher to beat because they are having a very good season in the Premier League.
“At the moment though the team is playing with lots of confidence and you can see that out on the pitch.
“I’m sure it will be the same on Saturday and who knows, with the belief we’ve got and the support of the fans, we might be able to cause an upset.”
