Kevan Hurst and Adam Thompson feature in Saturday's programme when Southend United take on Chesterfield
Adam Thompson and Kevan Hurst feature in Saturday’s edition of Blues, our official matchday programme.
Thompson, who recently signed a permanent deal with Blues, talks about his decision to join, why he’s loved his time here so much so far, and why his car school are now expecting him to get a new car!
Hurst, who was born in Chesterfield, talks about facing his former club, how he’s hoping to get one over his Spireites supporting friends, and his excellent goalscoring form so far this season.
Hurst said: “I always enjoy going up against former clubs but I think Chesterfield and Sheffield United are the main two for obvious reasons.
“I grew up in Chesterfield and had three enjoyable loan spells with the club, so it’s always nice to take them on. I got a bit of stick from a few of their fans in the FA Cup game back in December.
“So when I scored I thought I’d celebrate because it was a big win for us and a great team goal. I showed my respects when I scored against them for Morecambe, and I’m sure most of their fans appreciate and understand that.
“Quite a few of my mates back home are Chesterfield fans, so they give me a bit of stick, but hopefully come 5pm today I’ll be able to give a bit back to them.”
There’s also the latest from Chief Executive Steve Kavanagh, the thoughts of manager Phil Brown and captain John White who is out injured at the present time.
We also have Ricky Duncan, Academy Manager, talking about EPPP and a look back to 1960 when we faced Chesterfield.
