Lee Barnard and Michael Timlin feature in tonight's matchday programme
In Friday night’s official matchday programme we have exclusive interviews with the returning Lee Barnard and midfielder Michael Timlin.
There’s also the latest from Phil Brown and John White in their exclusive columns, while the winners of our Junior Blues competition are announced.
We also have the latest news from the Shrimpers Trust, Youth Team and Community Department.
In Lee Barnard’s exclusive interview, the striker talks about how he can’t wait to play at Roots Hall again.
He said: “I’m delighted to have come back to Southend United because I had a fantastic time here during my first spell with the club,” he said.
“I was born locally, my partner is from this area too, so it does feel like I’m returning home. My goalscoring record was very pleasing the first time I was here, and hopefully I can score as many as possible this time around too.
“I love scoring goals and everyone here knows what time of player I am. I know there’s going to be tough competition for places but that can only be a good thing. Hopefully I can make an impression very quickly on the manager, my teammates and the fans again.”
Michael Timlin also talks about his strike against Hull City that hit the bar, and how he is determined to put that behind him and help Southend United to promotion.
