Phil Brown on the 4-1 win against Championship side Millwall

Phil Brown revealed his delight for his players after they knocked Championship side Millwall out of the FA Cup with a convincing 4-1 win.

Barry Corr, Will Atkinson, Michael Timlin and Ryan Leonard all scored as Blues put Neil Harris’ side to the sword with a convincing display.

And Blues’ boss was thrilled with the performance of his players up against the Lions.

He said: “I’m delighted for the players more than anyone else because it was an excellent performance from everyone.

“They played terrifically against Championship opposition and fully deserved to win the game and progress in the cup.

“It’s fantastic for the club and everyone will look forward to the draw for the next round.

“We started the game really well and they looked like they were nervous whenever they were on the ball.

“We took advantage with an excellent header from Barry Corr and it was no more than we deserved at that stage.

“They had a player sent-off and we took even more control of the game and the second was really important.

“It filled the players with even more belief and really knocked Millwall’s confidence.”

Brown was also pleased to see a number of players prove a point as they were given their chance against the Lions.

He added: “Conor Clifford and Adam Thompson came in and were excellent, I wanted players to prove a point and they did.

“Barry Corr got back among the goals which was great because he has been working hard and deserved that.

“It was also great to see Michael Timlin get a goal because he’s not scored in a long time.

“You couldn’t ask for any more from the players and now I’ve got lots to think about ahead of Plymouth on Saturday.”
