Saturday's matchday programme for the FA Cup third round features exclusive interviews with Neil Harris, Mark Phillips and Marc Laird
Saturday’s matchday programme for our FA Cup third round tie with Millwall features three exclusive interviews with players who have played for both clubs.
Mark Phillips, who spent most of his playing career with Millwall, features, as well as Marc Laird who helped Millwall win promotion in 2010.
We also speak to Neil Harris, who grew up supporting Southend United, and spent most of his playing career with Millwall. Neil is likely to be in caretaker charge of the Lions on Saturday.
Midfielder Laird said: “Brentford were the side to knock us out last year and I’d had a loan spell with them, so it’d be nice to knock a former club out this time around.
“I think the furthest I’ve gone in the FA Cup is the fourth round and I came up against Hull City who were managed by Phil Brown, we lost the game 2-0.
“I’d love to be able to get Southend to the fourth round, we saw last season how positive a run in the cup can be with the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy success.
“It’s not about the size of the two teams in the FA Cup, it’s all about the performance on the day.
“I really enjoyed my time with Millwall, but I’d love to be able to play a part in helping knock them out and cause a shock.”
We also have lots of Blues History content as we look back to the only previous meeting between the two sides in the FA Cup, as well as an interview with Ricky Duncan on the youth’s season so far.
