Defender John White on how Blues must respond to defeat against Mansfield Town on Saturday
John White says Blues must respond in the best way possible following defeat to Mansfield Town on Saturday – with three points at home against Exeter City this weekend.
White refused to blame conditions for the defeat, but said Mansfield maybe dealt with them better to come away with the three points at the One Call Stadium.
Having not lost at home in the league since October, White says it’s the perfect opportunity to respond against the Grecians on Saturday.
He said: “We have shown already this season when we’ve had a disappointing defeat, we’re capable of bouncing back straight away.
“There is a very good attitude throughout the squad and we know we’ve got to do better than we did against Mansfield.
“They just seemed to deal with the conditions better. We can’t blame the conditions because it was the same for both sides.
“In the first-half we were up against the wind so knew we’d have to defend and keep ourselves in the game.
“We conceded but we were still in it at half-time. We started quite brightly trying to play more football, but they got a second.
“Even after that we kept going but when Conor was sent off it became a lot more difficult for us to get back into the game.
“It’s good to be back at home for Saturday’s game. We’ve got a good record there this season, and we’re desperate for the three points.”
White also thanked supporters for their tremendous support at the game at Mansfield on Saturday.
The defender hopes to repay the 484 that made the journey, and other supporters, with a positive performance on Saturday.
“It always hurts more for the fans at games like this,” he added. “We’re disappointed with our performance and feel we let them down.
“Times are hard financially and the weather was atrocious, but to have nearly 500 fans here was absolutely incredible.
“They never stopped singing and really got behind the team. Hopefully come Saturday we can put in a performance they’ll be proud of.”
