John White on his return to action, but disappointment at not capping it with a win
John White was pleased to be back in the side, but frustrated he didn’t cap it with a win against Newport County on Friday night.
White, who had missed Blues’ last four games with a shoulder injury, was back in from the start in the 0-0 draw.
And Blues’ skipper says it was great to be back playing, but admits Newport’s gameplan stopped Blues from playing.
He said: “I think they came here to get something from the game and had a really good chance to win the game with the penalty.
“We’re going to have to accept that teams will do that between now and the end of the season.
‘We’ve got to try and find different ways to break them down, and we created quite a few chances.
“More goals is something we definitely need to add, all round the team, but we just need to show a bit of composure.
“For me personally it was great to be back playing having missed quite a few games with injury.
“Obviously it would have been nice to get the three points but we’ve kept our unbeaten league start to 2014 going.”
White admitted he did feel some discomfort in his shoulder at the end of the first half.
But having had the half-time break to recover, he said it felt fine after the restart.
He added: “I knew I hadn’t popped it out again but I fell under a challenge and it hurt a bit.
“I needed a few minutes just to keep it relaxed so it was nice we had the half-time break just after it happened.
“It was always going to come under some pressure in the first game back but it stood up to it and I’m pleased.
“I’ve got a week now before another big game against Mansfield.
“After two draws this week it is important we get the win there on Saturday.”
