Phil Brown confirms Julian Bennett will miss the rest of the season
Julian Bennett is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a setback with his knee injury.
The defender has been out since Blues lost to Yeovil in August with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
And this morning (Thursday), manager Phil Brown confirmed one of the stitches had snapped.
Having seen the defender work hard to get back running in the last couple of weeks, Blues’ boss was gutted for the 29-year-old.
He said: “Julian has been working ever so hard to get himself back fit to try and play some part between now and the end of the season.
“But this latest setback will probably rule him out for the rest of the season which is a huge shame for us, and for him.
“He had been back running on the grass in the last few weeks, but felt something go in it earlier this week.
“We had it looked at and it seems one of the stitches he had when the surgery was done last year has snapped.
“He’ll be with us working hard and obviously at the end of the season we’ll sit down and discuss things and go from there.”
Bennett himself was understandably disappointed. He said: “I was working hard and hopeful of playing some part again this season.
“I will just keep working hard and can hopefully show the fans what I can do next season.”
