Phil Brown on defender Cian Bolger's debut against York City
Phil Brown was pleased with the contribution of new loan signing Cian Bolger as Blues kept a clean sheet against York City on Saturday.
Bolger only linked up with his new teammates on Saturday morning, but stepped in well alongside Adam Thompson.
Brown was happy to see his central defender put his head in where it hurts on a number of occasions, before eventually coming off with a turned ankle.
He said: “He certainly knows he is in League 2 now!
“He had five or six stitches to his face very early in the game and then took a straight arm a few minutes after coming back on.
“In the end, it was a tackle that forced him off because he turned his ankle.
“Cian has been in the wars, but he’ll be delighted to have been given the opportunity to play first-team football.
“He applied himself well after meeting his teammates just a few hours before the game.
“Hopefully he can be fit for Tuesday night because he looked solid in the back four.”
