Phil Brown on the first couple of days in Portugal on warm weather training
Manager Phil Brown has been pleased with what he’s seen so far on Blues’ four-day training camp in Portugal.
The squad arrived yesterday morning and enjoyed a day in the gym and the pool, before heading out onto the grass this morning for their first training session.
And Blues’ boss was delighted to be able to get outside on the grass in the warm conditions.
He said: “The main reason for this trip was to be able to get outside in good weather and train on the grass, which has been difficult recently.
“We had a really good hour and a half training session on Monday morning and all the players worked extremely hard.
“When we first arrived the weather wasn’t as we’d hoped, but we had a day in the gym having played on Saturday, and spent some time in the pool doing recovery work.
“All the players know we are here to work hard and they’ve certainly shown that in the first couple of days.”
Brown was grateful for the opportunity to take the players to Portugal, and also looked back on the time in Madrid to showcase what a break like this can do.
“Madrid was very fresh in my mind when we were talking about trying to get away,” he said.
“We had a good trip there and came back in a great way ready for the start of the season.
“I’m thankful to the chairman who has allowed us to get away again to get us prepared for the remainder of the season.
“We’re in a privileged position being able to do this, and we’ll certainly be making the most of it.”
