Dan Bentley wants Blues to kick on again after a run of three draws in their last four league games
Daniel Bentley wants Blues to ‘kick on’ after picking up three draws in their last four league fixtures.
The goalkeeper insists the three draws shouldn’t be seen as points dropped, and hopes pick up a win against Mansfield Town on Saturday.
A dominant display from Blues earlier in the season saw them beat the Stags 3-0 at Roots Hall, but the 20-year-old is expecting a tough test at the One Call Stadium.
He said: “I don’t think we can say that the draws were bad results at all. We were disappointed not to win the Newport game.
“But they set up to disrupt us and on a difficult pitch it worked. At least we came away with a clean sheet and a point.
“Against Plymouth we came up against a side in good form and despite going behind we took something from the game.
“Then against the Daggers we had chances to win against a side who have one of the best home records in the division.
“Of course, we know how important it is to win games, and hopefully we can do that against Mansfield Town on Saturday. Now’s the time for us to kick on.
“We know it’ll be a tough game but we have done well away from home this season so will be confident.
“Their home form hasn’t been the best, so hopefully we can take advantage and get three points.”
Bentley is hoping to add a 13th clean sheet to his record for the season, adding: “Clean sheets are the most important thing for goalkeepers and defenders.
“We are on a good unbeaten run and that starts from not conceding a goal.
“We have picked up a couple of clean sheets in our last three league games and it would be great to add another on Saturday.”
Looking back at the reverse fixture, which Blues won 3-0, Bentley is hoping for both a similar result, and performance.
He said: “We played very well against them earlier in the season at home and could have scored more.
“It was a mad game with three sent off, but our level of performance was very good.
“We’ve maybe not taken our chances in recent games but we did that night and hopefully we do so again at their place.”
