Phil Brown was delighted for goalkeeper Ted Smith after he earned an England under-19 call up on Monday.Blues’ young goalkeeper, who will be involved for the under-19’s away to Germany at the start of September.
Brown was proud of Ted’s call-up, and is delighted with the progress he is making.
He said: “It’s absolutely brilliant news, not just for Ted himself but also for the club. We’re not just boasting an England international, we’ve also got Dan Bentley at 21 playing in the first-team.
“Ted is pushing very hard for the number two shirt here at the moment and Paul Smith knows that. If Ted’s progression continues, he’ll soon be pushing for the number one shirt.
“He gained a lot of experience last season as youth team captain and with his caps for England’s under-18’s. I’m delighted to see him continuing his international career.
“He’s a grounded lad who will take this in his stride, but I’m delighted for him and I’m sure he’ll make the most of it.”
