Southend United are pleased to announce the signing of young striker Isaac Layne from Billericay Town for an undisclosed fee.
Layne has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year.
The in-demand striker who spent time with Championship side Charlton Athletic during pre-season will be looking to make an impression at Blues.
19-year-old Layne impressed Blues’ manager Phil Brown when his side visited New Lodge for a pre-season friendly in July.
Brown said: “We’re delighted to have Isaac join us. Pre-season is about getting minutes under your belt, but sometimes when facing local sides you’ll find a little gem.
“I believe we’ve found that with Isaac. He impressed me during training on Monday having joined. He’s got a lot of potential.”
Isaac said: “When the opportunity came to join Southend I couldn’t turn it down and I’m really excited for what is to come.
“All I want to do is show everyone what I’m about and make a big impression on the manager, fans and my teammates.”
