Big interview with midfielder Michael Timlin in Saturday's programme

Saturday’s official matchday programme has an exclusive interview with midfielder Michael Timlin.

Timlin talks about the pain of missing out on two trips to Wembley, the heartbreak of missing out on promotion over the last two years, and his determination to make it third time lucky on both fronts.

The midfielder also discusses his form so far this season, and how he believes Southend United’s fans deserve to be watching their side in League 1 next season.

Here’s a small preview of our chat with Timlin: “I am really looking forward to the final run-in this season. I’m feeling really fit and confident. The year we played Crewe in the play-offs I had picked up a slipped disc towards the end of the season.

“Then last year of course I got injured in February and was unable to help with the promotion push. I wasn’t around the lads as much either because my schedule was different, so I couldn’t really pass on much advice.

“I do feel like we can make it third time lucky. But we’re not lucky to be in the position we’re in at the moment. We’ve been consistent all season really and deserve to be in and around the play-offs heading into these final five games.

Also included, we have a photo gallery from the Community Day at the Torquay United game, exclusive columns with John White, Phil Brown and local reporter Chris Phillips.

There’s the latest from the youth team and news of their four game winning run that has seen them go unbeaten in six matches, as well as an interview with defender Jordan Williams.
