Southend United held their Kick It Out Game of Action against Torquay United on Saturday
Saturday’s game against Torquay United not only marked our first ever Community Day, but also our Kick It Out Game of Action, marking the 20-year anniversary of their work.
We welcomed Roisin Wood to Roots Hall, who is the Director of Kick It Out, and there was a photo taken pitch side (attached) with young people from the Roma community.
The campaign has been embarking on a special ‘Season of Action’ to recognise the progress that has been made in tackling all forms of discrimination in football since 1993.
Activities will be taking place up and down the country throughout the season as the organisation continues to strive to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for all.
Dale Spiby, the Community & Educational Trust Chief Executive, said: “Kick It Out play an important role in raising awareness of discrimination. We were delighted to be able to welcome Roisin to the game.
“We felt it appropriate to host our Game of Action during our Community Day which was a huge success.
“Their brand allows us to create a positive message during the delivery of community projects that are bespoke to anti-discrimination.
Kick It Out has also introduced a free app to report incidents of discrimination; these reports will be treated in the strictest of confidence. The app is available to iPhone and Android users from the App Store or Google Play.
