Phil Brown on the knocks to Kevan Hurst, Jakub Sokolik and John Egan
Phil Brown has confirmed three of Blues’ starting XI from Monday’s win against Accrington Stanely are doubts for the trip to Fleetwood Town on Saturday.
Midfielder Kevan Hurst and young defenders John Egan and Jakub Sokolik are all nursing knocks that could rule them out for Saturday.
But Blues’ boss Brown is hopeful all three will be fit and ready, and he can name an unchanged side for the trip to Highbury Stadium.
He said: “Kevan Hurst is a slight doubt. He had to have an injection after Monday’s game, and actually had one at the start of the season.
“Jakub is also a doubt and he needs to be managed between games at the moment, as well as John Egan who is in the same position.
“Hopefully all three will be available by Saturday and we can name an unchanged side for the game against Fleetwood Town.
“But they probably won’t train on Thursday so we’ll work on them and hope to have them out in training on Friday before we travel up north.
“This is the first time for Jakub and John playing so many first-team games, so they need to be managed through it.
“The strength and conditioning and physio department have done an excellent job for us so far this season and will continue to do so.”
Brown says the continuity is his team selection has been a big boost for Blues throughout the campaign.
He added; “It hasn’t crossed my mind to change things for Saturday because we’ve had a lot of continuity in the side during the whole season.
“We went on that bad run, but didn’t change much because we knew we had the right workings, and things have turned back our way.
“I’m lucky to have a squad of 22 and everyone is applying the pressure to one another which is fantastic to have at this stage of the season.”
