Phil Brown on Jack Bridge, Josh Banton, Jason Wlliams and Ted Smith
Phil Brown paid testament to the work of Ricky Duncan and his staff after offering professional contracts to three of his under-18 squad.
That follows on from Ted Smith who signed a professional deal with the club back in January after an impressive season as captain of Duncan’s side.
Blues’ boss was delighted to be able to offer the deals, and praised their attitude and hard work over a number of years.
Brown said: “These offers are a direct result of the hard work put in by a number of people over the years, not just in the last year or so.
“It’s testament to Ricky Duncan and his team that we’ve offered four under-18’s professional deals this time around, and I’m delighted to be able to offer all four of them contracts.
“Ted has already signed and has probably had the best season of his short career, featuring for England’s under-18’s and being close to the first-team.
“Josh has impressed me with his pace as a defender and that’s something you need at the top level. Jason also has an abundance of pace, but of course, there are aspects of their games we need to work on.
“Jack is a similar mould to Jack Payne who has impressed everyone this season with his ability to create something out of nothing.
“Their attitude has been first class, and I’ve been pleased with their progress as part of the development squad too under the guidance of Graham Coughlan.
“They’ve done excellently against more experienced opposition, while also finishing the season strongly with the under-18’s.
“The development squad has been a real positive for us this season and hopefully these young players will continue to develop and push themselves into the first-team next season.”
