Phil Brown on a 'crucial' period for everyone in League 2
Phil Brown says Easter is a ‘crucial’ time for every club in League 2 as they fight at the top and bottom of the table.
Blues face Rochdale – who are eyeing automatic promotion – and Accrington Stanley – who will be hoping for another win or two to steer away from the bottom two – over the Easter weekend.
Dale’s form at home has been impressive, winning 14 of their 21 home matches, while Stanley have won seven of their away games.
Brown said: “Easter is always a crucial time for any team. At both ends of the division, teams are fighting for something, whether that’s automatic promotion, the play-offs or to avoid the drop.
“We wanted the win on Saturday but we’ve got to move on from that. We’re already above the points tally from last season, so it’s showing that we’re making progress.
“Four games are left, and we’ve got to make sure we keep going and putting in good performances. We know we’ve got four games to secure a play-off spot.
“The automatics are out of our reach now with four games left and the goal difference the way it is, so we know what we’ve got to do and what we can achieve.”
Brown believes Saturday’s defeat could be a wake up call for some of his players, adding: “It could be. It was an important moment and there has been lots of those this season.
“I wanted to make sure we were better at home, and we have been, having only lost five here this season. It’s a difficult place for teams to come.
“But it was a tough defeat to take. We’ve now got to keep performing and if we do, we can pick up points from each of the four games.
“It is all about the focus of the players, the mentality and the work rate. That has been there all season and will be for the final four too.”
