Goalkeeper wants to end Fleetwood's automatic hopes with a win at Highbury Stadium
Dan Bentley is heading to Fleetwood Town expecting a tough test against the Cod Army, as they go in search of automatic promotion.
But Bentley believes Blues’ recent run of form will give them every chance of denting Fleetwood’s hopes and leave them battling in the play-offs, just as Blues will be.
He said: “Fleetwood are up there for a reason, if they weren’t good enough they wouldn’t be there with just two games left of the season.
“We picked up a big three points against them at Roots Hall earlier in the season, and it’d be nice to do that again if it is possible.
“They are a good side and will be going all out to try and get into the automatic places, but we’re going there to cement our play-off place.
“We know we only need one point to make it mathematically safe, but we’ll be going there to get all three points and keep our momentum going.”
Bentley however doesn’t feel that defeat for Blues would dent confidence, following an impressive run of five wins in six games, all but sealing the play-off spot.
“Momentum is important, but even if we lost the game, which I’m hoping doesn’t happen, I don’t think we’ll lose any confidence in the play-offs,” he added.
“The play-offs are a one off. They’re a cup tie and we’ll be ready for that if and when it comes to it.
“We’ve still got to do the job in the league at this stage and keep our play-off place, then we can focus on getting promotion from this division.
