Lee Barnard says this weekend provides a great chance to put Saturday's disappointment behind
Lee Barnard says Blues have got a great opportunity to put things right when they travel to Rochdale on Good Friday.
Having won three games in a row, Saturday’s defeat to AFC Wimbledon was a big disappointment, admits Barnard, but he’s confident Blues can put another run together until the end of the season.
He said: “After going on a bad run, it was great to get back on track with three wins in a row and we wanted to keep that going, so Saturday’s defeat was disappointing.
“We were all gutted after the game, but we had to put it behind and move on. That’s what we’ve done and there’s still a very positive attitude around the stadium.
“We’ve got two games in four days coming up, and it’s a great chance to pick up six points to put us in a very good position ahead of the final couple of games.
“Rochdale will be a tough test for us, they are in a good position in the league, but we seem to play better against the teams around us in the table – just look at the Oxford United game.”
Barnard was part of a failed play-off campaign for Blues when he first arrived at the club, but he says that experience will hopefully stand him in good stead this time around.
He added: “Obviously we finished in the League 1 play-offs in my first season with the club. It didn’t end the way we’d have liked, but on that occasion we took the last spot available.
“We’ve got four games left to make sure we’re in there anyway possible and then give ourselves a chance. If my experience is needed, I’m happy to help in any way possible to help this club into League 1.”
