White: Let's end this winless run

Skipper calls for big performance as Scunthorpe visit Roots Hall tonight

Skipper John White wants Blues to end their three match winless run, and pile more misery on Scunthorpe United.

White was part of the Colchester team that went to Carlisle on the final day of last season and won, in turn relegating the Iron.

He said: “Yeah, I was part of that team but of course the game against them in just another one in our season. It’s a game we want to win because of our dip in results in the last three games.

“I think confidence in the camp is still high because we actually played well in two of those games. We’ve got to make it up to the fans for the performance we put in against Morecambe.

“The boys are buzzing for the game. They know there’s going to be a great atmosphere under the lights and they are all looking forward to it. We want to put things right.

“Scunthorpe will be an experienced side. We know what they are going to try and do. They’ll try and come here and make sure they leave with something.

“Against Morecambe we didn’t get on the front foot in the second-half but we have got to do that against Scunthorpe.

“I know Chris Iwelumo well and he’s a big lad, he's a very good player. They’ll look to get the ball up to him and play from there.

“The fans have been brilliant so far this season and we just want to put in a performance, not just for them, but for us too.”
