Extra Time: Thanks to Southend United

29 September 2013

Southend United continue to support the Extra Time Learning Zone

Thanks to the continued support of Southend United Football Club and our School Improvement Partnership of Bournemouth Park Primary School, Cecil Jones College, Hamstel Junior School, Porters Grange Primary School and Temple Sutton Primary School, the new Learning Zone @ Wentworth is now up and running.

This is in addition to the existing Extra Time @ SUFC Learning Zone which is based in Cecil Jones College in Eastern Avenue.  A wide range of courses will be run throughout the week across both sites with students from many Southend schools benefitting from working in these flexible and motivational working spaces.

We have a range of ICT equipment including a suite of Acer Windows 8 tablets, ipad minis, iPad2s, laptops, Kindles and Nintendo 3DSs.  Thanks to the hard work of the Cecil Jones College ICT department the equipment is able to be shared between the two sites.

Southend United Football Club has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Learning Zone since it first opened its doors at Roots Hall in 2005. With its move to Cecil Jones College, the club has continued to support the education of young people in Southend through player visits, behind the scenes ground tours, SUFC merchandise as prizes, as well as a pair of matchday tickets for each of our students. Some of these children have never had the opportunity to attend a match so this is a very exciting way to celebrate their hard work!
